I dont usually post on here, so this should tell you how awesome I think this was. So, last night I had a dinner meeting with Michelle Glenn from the Alumni Association at UCSD. She flew all the way to the Triangle to get reconnected to UCSD Alumni of all ages and occupations and make sure we knew they were there for us even though we are 3000 miles away now. So, I got a lovely evening of good conversation, great food and drinks at MEZ in Durham, and a little nostalgic reunion with my Alma Mater. I told her a little about my experiences in college and what could have made it even better, my interest in an official Alumni Chapter out here and how much I would love to work at a university because of the atmosphere I miss from my university. I also found out that they had a 7% acceptance rate last year!! because of the influx of application and the schools ever increasing ranking and how they are trying to raise $50 Million in San Diego to go toward grants for students since the government is hiking up fees another 30%.

So I know she wont see this, but i’d like to thank her out loud once again for coming out and reminding me of all the things I loved about my university!! and for the awesome fish tacos and mojitos at MEZ! Hopefully I’ll be fortunate enough to be able to donate to the alumni association in the future!

awww…. I totally had this exact piggy bank when I was a little kid… I remember I used to gather coins from around the world and put them in there… wow… i didn’t realize it went that far back until right now….warm fuzzies.

I just had to say that I am sooo looking forward to this weekend! I love halloween!! The office is wearing on me amongst other things and im getting irritable pretty fast, I cant wait until 5pm friday when I get 2 days to celebrate the best holiday EVER! Dressing up in total head to toe silliness and putting on far too much make up so you can beg for candy and treats, I love it! I always said if I lived somewhere touristy I would work at an attraction just so I could dress up in costumes everyday, like medieval times or a traveling fair, that would be so fun!

Some day I’ll have a job where I can enjoy sunshine and weekdays as much as the weekend…. at what point in your life do you sacrifice money and stability to live homeless on the beach of an exotic island…. I think im starting to reach that point.

I don’t know what it is about this time of year, but as the leaves start to turn and the weather has a slight morning chill, I get transported to a world of holiday movies and sharing warmth and love with family and friends. I instantly feel the urge to slow down, grab a fluffy throw and a cup of hot chocolate, cuddle up on the couch and watch silly movies all day. I start thinking of thanksgiving and christmas, snow days and mini vacations at a bed and breakfast in the mountains or by the ocean. Pretty peacoats and warm scarves, Italian leather boots and perfect fit gloves. Baking cookies and hearty meals, decorating the house, the smell of warm cinnamon and crackling fires. I cant think of anything that I don’t love about the fall and winter, hopefully it won’t go by too quickly.

When we are young we have the most wonderful dreams and aspirations, to be astronauts or travel the world and enjoy every second of our lives, but then reality sets in, and we start to settle, we settle for the nice house, and the job with decent pay, the stable relationships and material goods that we think are necessary. Every year the dreams fade and become more like fantasies. What happened to the girl with dreams to take over the world and never settle, the girl who didn’t eat or shop more than bare necessities to put every penny toward a plane ticket to a new adventure and every weekend a mini vacation. The ultimate goal to sell everything and live oversees with the hopes of touching lives less fortunate and making a tiny difference in someone’s world. I miss that girl…. sometimes I’m scared im starting to lose her all together….
